THE PROPHET AND THE PROPHETIC WORD EXPLAINED
Kim Clement
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
Note: Through the centuries since the Christian church was first established, the vital ministry of the prophets was largely lost sight of. That has created a dangerous situation, because "Where there is no vision the people perish." Prov. 29:18. The prophetic ministry is being restored in our own day, but many Christians are still ignorant of, or fearful of, this vital part of God's plan. I believe Kim Clement has done a good job of explaining the prophetic in this brief comment.

People are afraid of the prophet, and his message. He is violated during his ministry but vindicated by history. For a season, the prophet must be a voice crying in the wilderness of modern theology and stagnant religion. The prophet hates stagnation and despises regression. As I have told you before, he is an Iconoclast--destroying icons; the troublemaker of Israel. The prophet rejects ecclesiastical favors. He must not speak unless he has been in and comes from Gods chamber where he has received the order of that day. He is unquestionably controversial and unpardonably hostile. He is anti-social but for a reason and a season. The prophet breathes the air of inspiration. He lives in the heights with God and carries the word into the valley of bones. Forthright, outright, but he claims no birthright. The prophet is answerable to God and no one else. God will judge him.
He is the villain of today and the hero of tomorrow. He eats daily the bread of affliction, but he feeds the bread of life to the FEW THAT LISTEN. He announces, pronounces and denounces.
